Professional outreach to students
Too often we hear that young people don’t know about careers in/with geography. We aim to inspire, inform, and enable the next generation of geographers by connecting them with professionals like you.
We’re looking for geographers to share their stories and insights with school and university students. Whether through online panels, career profiles, or live Q&A sessions, you’ll help bring geography to life by showing how what’s taught in the classroom connects to the real world.
Explore opportunities to engage with young people, schools and educators in our guide, and read about the benefits for your staff and business in getting involved in education outreach.
Whether through webinars, being featured in career profiles and curriculum resources, work experience, placements, apprenticeships or more there are many ways to be involved.
Current opportunities
I’m a Geographer Get Me Out of Here provides schools with access to free, live online chats with professional geographers about the world of work to explore how they use geographical skills and knowledge in the real world.
The activity is entirely online so you can take part wherever you are and at a time that suits you.
Volunteer to engage with students and schools
Young people benefit from hearing from and engaging with professionals throughout their education.
As well as supporting the next generation of geographers, professional outreach can be a fulfilling experience and is recognised by many employers and professional accreditations, including Chartered Geographer, as a form of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
